If you are sensitive to the energies that permeate our world, you have undoubtedly been feeling an increase in intensity lately. Every time we think we’ve hit a new peak, the symphony crescendos even more. This may feel exhilarating, chaotic, or worrisome, depending on your perspective – and more aptly, your mindset.
For many of us, it feels like the universe is on fast-forward, and so our visions and dreams are manifesting into reality with increased purpose and speed. This can be thrilling and wonderful…but it also highlights the adage that we must be careful about the thoughts we pour our attention into, and the words we speak aloud.
Our powers of manifestation can be a double-edged sword! We can no longer dally in feelings of fear, despair, sadness, or anger – because that energy is feeding the manifestation of our world in very real, tangible ways. Our thoughts create our reality, and so it’s no coincidence that the ‘powers-that-were’ – the reptilian psychopaths, as I prefer to call them – are steadily feeding out a cacophony of dissonant noise, meant to distract and disarm us.
Because of this, we may be feeling wary, and close to overwhelm. Since our thoughts, beliefs, and choices have a stronger impact than ever, it’s vital that we maintain a high frequency and steer clear of fear, apathy, and other divisive emotions!
As injustice and inequity are being called to the forefront of the collective’s attention, many of us are being encouraged to identify with our pain, trauma, and suffering – to amplify it, and wear it as a badge of honour. This is a trap.
Acknowledging the truth of what we’ve endured is an important step in healing – but there is a massive difference between facing the truth from a place of empowerment, and giving your power away by viewing yourself as a victim.
We are collectively facing a lot of inner “shadow work”, which can bring about absolutely essential transformation and change, but it’s easy to get seduced into thinking that we must always be healing, rather than healed.
A healthy mindset includes cultivating resilience, so that we may face our challenges with grace and then move forward. If we spend too much time examining our wounds, we don’t allow them to heal over. Worse, we may forget our purpose, which is to experience the joy, bliss, and beauty of life – regardless of where we are on our path of growth and healing.
I’ve also noticed that we, as a collective, are experiencing varying degrees of consequence after ignoring the call for rest from our bodies and minds for so long.
We suffer yet struggle on, with poor quality sleep, fake foods, lack of sunlight, accumulated toxins, high-stress jobs, and inauthentic relationships – and for many of us, our bodies are saying: “Enough!”
Strange symptoms, health challenges, digestive issues, and more – all are impacted by a lack of proper rest and rejuvenation.
I’m not talking about extra naps or spa days…I mean deep soul-rest, disconnection from the noise, and a thorough re-examining of our priorities in life.
This type of rest might look like saying “no” more often, changing diet or habits, or simply ‘doing nothing’ for a long time–and from those shifts to cultivate space and emptiness, new inspirations and passions can arise from the void, like perennial blooms!
When our soul craves deep rest, we find ourselves dismayed by the drama of social media or the latest television updates, and instead, we slow down to drink in the details of life all around us.
If we take time to pull our conscious awareness out of our logical mind and into the carnal, physical body, we experience the peace of being grounded.
Living from the mind alone is an exhausting endeavour, void of creativity, and lacking the inspiration of intuitive, heart-led subtlety – yet, this is how most of us have been conditioned to remain. Sometimes, the cure to our overwhelm is not in forging ahead in an attempt to be free of the pressure – but in releasing, relaxing, and surrendering to the stillness (even when we’re worried about what’s next).
If you are feeling a lack of stamina for intellectual discipline – and maybe even judging yourself for it – don’t worry. You’re not alone. It’s understandable that our brains crave stillness after periods of unrelenting demands and unprecedented stress.
For another perspective on this, we can look to brainwave states. The majority of people spend nearly all our waking hours in Beta, that is to say, normal consciousness, where we can think logically, answer emails, shop, etc. When we sleep and dream, we are often in Theta and Delta states – deep, cosmic, metaphoric, and of course, restful.
However, in between the mundane alertness of Beta and the dreamland of Theta and Delta, is the Alpha brainwave state. This is the realm of the in-between; symbolism, emotions, intuition, and creativity live here. In Alpha, we are aware yet soft, conscious yet receptive. We let go of our need to control or manage anything, and we simply observe, allow, and notice what’s happening in both our inner and outer realms.
Dropping into the Alpha state happens naturally as we are falling asleep, but we can also actively learn to enter into Alpha by practicing things like meditation, prayer, yoga, or forest bathing.
Anything that gets us into a “flow state” where time stands still and we are immersed in doing something we enjoy that requires skill, concentration, and focused awareness – this is how we activate Alpha brainwave states, and it’s also how we create experiences of softness, stillness, intuitive clarity, and sanctuary in our lives.
We seek reassurance from those often-intangible things that inspire beauty, joy, and hope – in other words, by consciously cultivating experiences that bring us into the Alpha brainwave state.
Many of us find deep solace in spiritual practices and teachings…but the irony is that sometimes, an over-emphasis on spiritual pursuits can leave us feeling detached from the daily aspects of life. We are meant to have a human experience, with all its peaks and valleys – and too much focus on the spiritual can be a form of escapism.
It’s important that we do not neglect the ‘chop wood, carry water’ aspects of life as we evolve and grow spiritually.
The paradox we embody as evolved beings is that we are meant to be in balance–not so grounded that we neglect our connection to spirit, yet also firmly anchored into our bodies, values, and beliefs, so that we may effect change and continue our growth path here, as human beings on planet Earth.
To cultivate a joyful, thriving world for humanity, we must be willing to get our hands dirty, to grow despite the mud, and to strive for mastery of the mind as well as the mundane stuff of life.
We are awakening to our dual nature…and we are no longer meant to exist exclusively in the Beta-brainwave state of logic, order, and practicality. As things “quicken” in the collective consciousness, we are more easily able to access deeper, intuitive, and heart-led states like Alpha and even Theta, just by slowing down and being more attuned, present, and open.
In order to reach our full potential in the cosmos, we must master our multifaceted nature as beings of both heart and mind.
